The Penn State Nittany Lions are the Big Ten Conference Champions after beating #6 ranked Wisconsin 38-31 on Saturday night at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis, Indiana.
Penn State, who was ranked #8 going into Saturday’s game, came back in the second half from a 28-14 Wisconsin lead at halftime. That comeback was the biggest in Big Ten Conference Championship history. During the game, Penn State out gained the Badger offense 435 yards to 415 yards, with 384 yards of offense coming through the air.
Although the 11-2 Nittany Lions won the Big Ten Championship, there is still a chance that they will fall short of the four team NCAA football playoffs. The selection committee will meet on Sunday to announce which schools will play.
In the NCAA Division II National Playoffs, CalU fell to Shepherd at home by a final of 41-30 on Saturday. CalU, who won the PSAC and PSAC West titles this season, made the national playoffs for the first time 2011. Saturday’s quarterfinal game was CalU’s first loss of the season. As for Shepherd, they move onto the Division II semi-finals, and will host the University of North Alabama on Saturday. Shepherd played in the National Championship game last season.
