A federal court recently ruled that Wisconsin’s legislative districts were drawn to clearly favor Republicans, so much so that they violate the Constitution.
The ruling raises questions about Pennsylvania’s districts.
Attorney Ruth Greenwood of the Campaign Legal Center said in Pennsylvania, they found districts are so gerrymandered that Republicans will control the House even in a year when Democrats do well across the state.
“It suggests that not only was there extreme Republican advantage, but that advantage is likely to endure for the rest of the decade,” Greenwood said.
Republican leadership in the Pennsylvania Legislature argues the districts were drawn fairly, saying Democrats have a demographics problem by concentrating themselves only in large cities.
