Free parking is over for the time being in the city of Butler however it will return for a time in December.
Parking Manager for the City of Butler Jimmy Chiprean told our newsroom “The city would like everybody to come downtown and enjoy the free parking on Saturday December 3rd and of course the week of the 16th through the 25th, through Christmas.”
The city did offer free street parking over the Thanksgiving holiday but that has now ended and normal parking regulations apply.
These parking announcements do not apply to the new Centre City garage which is being used by people who have purchased permits but according to Chiprean, work is still being done.
“The gate man’s coming up on Thursday. There’s a lot of programming that has to be done; you have to tie it all in with the police department and the city and the key cards. The way it’s looking, I’m trying to go live by the first of the year,” Chiprean said.
People interested in purchasing a permit for the new garage for $60 can do so by calling the Butler City Police Station.
