A presentation about transportation in the Butler Area School District revealed that progress has been made but there is still work to be done.
Supervisor of Transportation Deborah Croft addressed the school board Monday night with facts and figures that demonstrated shorter overall bus run lengths compared to last year following the district’s consolidation. No further major changes are expected even with new mapping software coming online in the near future.
Other data showed that even with about 300 fewer students riding the bus this year, the number of discipline incidents reported has increased. A new school board policy allowing building principals more discretion in discipline for bus incidents has resulted in fewer suspensions.
New video recording equipment on every bus remains a goal for the district since as of now, only five buses employ outdated cameras.
