Police in the Evans City area are engaged in a standoff with a man in his house with a weapon.
Multiple officers responded to the scene on Belle Street around 4 p.m. for the man with a rife who refused to come out of his house. Evans City Elementary School is being used as a staging area. No children are believed to be present.
The man is requesting to speak with a specific officer who is not currently on duty. It is unknown at this time why police originally responded to the house or why the man will not speak to anyone else.
Traffic is being diverted on McKinley and Pattison Streets around that scene until further notice.
