The local chapter of the Twilight Wish organization is helping a Butler County senior citizen feel closer to her family.
The group facilitated the donation of a computer, webcam and desk to 74-year-old Katherine Rapp. She was presented the gifts Monday morning at her personal care home in Butler City.
Most of Katherine’s family lives out of town and she will now be able to talk to them, and see them, via Skype on her new computer.
“This is a big deal to me,” Katherine told our newsroom. “To see peoples’ faces makes it more real.”
Katherine was raised in Butler. She worked at Butler Memorial Hospital and the Butler County Courthouse.
Jean Bowen with Twilight Wish says the mission of the group is to honor our oldest generations by fulfilling their wishes. The wishes can range from immediate, quality-of-life needs to the fulfillment of a lifelong dream.
“This is thrilling,” Bowen said Monday. “To see her face…it says it all.”
