Jimmie Johnson took advantage of two late cautions and mastered the final restart to win the Nascar Sprint Cup race at Homestead/Miami Speedway Sunday. It is Johnson’s seventh Nascar Sprint Cup championship, tying him with Richard Petty and the late Dale Earnhardt, Jr. Carl Edwards was the Chase contender leading the final four most of the race, but was caught in a late accident. The race was also the final Nascar race for three-time champion Tony Stewart.
Daniel Suarez won the X-Finity Series race, becoming the first latino driver to win a Nascar championship.
Johnny Sauter won the Craftsman Truck Series championship. Rookie William Byron won the race Friday.
