Slippery Rock University football defensive end Marcus Martin has been named the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference defensive player of the year for the second consecutive season. Martin broke the SRU and PSAC career records in sacks and tackles for a loss last season. He is 11 sacks away from the all-time Division II sack mark. Martin is joined on the PSAC first team by linebacker Bob Vernick, a Butler high graduate, defensive tackle Joe Phillips and cornerback Titus Howard.
Receiving PSAC second team honors were: linebacker Anthony Zappone, wide receiver Marques Johnson, running back Isaiah Neely and offensive lineman Steve Gaviglia, a Seneca Valley graduate.
California wide receiver Garry Brown was named offensive player of the year. Edinboro first-year head coach Justin Lustig was named coach of the year.
