The Seneca Valley Raiders football team will play Central Catholic in the WPIAL 6-A championship Friday at Heinz Field. Kick-off is 8pm. The Raiders defeated North Allegheny 28-27 in the semi-finals, while Central Catholic defeated Pine-Richland 63-34. Seneca Valley blocked an N.A. extra point attempt with time expired to win last Friday.
Also at Heinz Field in 5-A: West Allegheny and McKeesport will meet at 2pm Friday.
The 4-A game between New Castle and Thomas Jefferson will begin at 5pm.
The 3-A game between Aliquippa and Beaver Falls will kick off the day Friday at Heinz Field at 11am.
The 1-A and 2-A classes are just reaching their semi-final rounds this weekend.
District 8-9 champions Karns City (9-2) will meet District 10 champions Hickory (11-0) Saturday at Mihalik-Thompson Stadium at SRU in the first round of the PIAA 3-A playoffs. Kick-off is 1pm. Hickory topped Sharon Saturday 45-13.
Meadville defeated Grove City for the District 10 5-A title with a 67-27 victory Saturday.
The Seneca Valley Boys Soccer team’s season ended Saturday with a 1-0 loss to North Allegheny in the PIAA 4-A quarterfinals.
Mars fell to Lower Dauphin 4-0 Saturday in the 3-A quarterfinals.
Karns City was handed an 8-2 loss by Quaker Valley in 2-A.
Cardinal Wuerl North Catholic fell to Seton-LaSalle 1-0 in 1-A.
The Freeport Girls Soccer team lost to Hickory 2-0 in the 2-A quarterfinals Saturday.
The Seneca Valley and Freeport Girls Volleyball seasons came to a close with state tournament losses Saturday.
