Police are asking motorists to avoid Route 8 south in Middlesex Township if possible due to an accident Thursday afternoon.
According to the Middlesex Township Police Department, a traffic accident in the 1400 block of Pittsburgh Road near the Allegheny County line has resulted in the complete closure of north and southbound lanes.
The accident knocked down wires in the area shortly after 2 p.m. and it will take some time for crews to clear the scene. It’s not known if the accident resulted in any injuries.
Drivers should avoid the area if possible and expect lengthy delays until further notice.
