A local man has been charged with stealing from an ambulance in downtown Butler.
According to a criminal complaint, Butler City Police responded to a Butler Ambulance Service vehicle in the 100 block of First Street the afternoon of September 19th. Officers viewed onboard security footage of a white male removing a medical bag from the ambulance. The contents of the bag included an oxygen tank and related breathing equipment valued at $3,500.
Later that day, a male matching that description was stopped and identified as 35-year-old James Musser III. Musser initially denied being responsible for the theft but allegedly admitted to it after being told that there was security footage. He then directed police to where the bag was and it was returned to Butler Ambulance Service.
Musser has been charged with misdemeanor theft from a motor vehicle.
