A project to replace all street lights in Butler Township with new energy efficient LED bulbs is about to get underway.
West Penn Power notified Butler Township that five crews are set to begin the change over in the near future.
Those crews will be able to change a total of about 200 bulbs per day but it is still estimated to take until sometime in early December before all of the township’s 2,800 bulbs are replaced.
The expense to change the bulbs will be covered by West Penn Power. The new bulbs will have a brighter light and be more energy efficient, which would allow Butler Township a savings of 50 to 60 percent on a yearly energy bill of $250,000.
