SV and Freeport fall in WPIAL championships/Volleyball semi-finals results

High School Sports Scores from Thursday:

WPIAL Girls Volleyball semi-finals:

Seneca Valley advanced to the 4-A championship with a 3-1 victory over Hempfield. The Raiders will meet Baldwin Saturday at 6pm.

Defending WPIAL 2-A champions Freeport defeated Avonworth 3-2 and will meet Beaver. The match will be played Saturday at 2pm at Baldwin high school.

Knoch lost in the 3-A semi-finals 3-0 to Hampton. The Knights still have a chance to reach the PIAA tournament. They will face South Fayette Saturday at 6pm in a consolation match at Baldwin high school.

WPIAL Soccer Championships at Highmark Stadium:

The North Allegheny Boys defeated Seneca Valley 2-1 in overtime to win the 4-A title. It was the first loss of the season for the Raiders.

Freeport lost to Freedom 4-1 in the Girls 2-A championship.

Tonight: The Cardinal Wuerl North Catholic Boys (18-2-1) will meet Sewickley Academy (17-4) at 8pm in the Single-A championship.

Saturday: The Mars Girls (20-1) will face Montour (16-2-3) in the 3-A championship game at 6pm.
