WPIAL Girls Soccer Playoffs:Seneca Valley defeated Peters Township 3-2 in the first round. They will meet Canon-McMillan in the quarterfinals Thursday.
Upper St. Clair defeated Butler 6-1 in the Quad-A first round.
Pine-Richland defeated Kiski Area 2-1. The Rams face Fox Chapel Thursday.
In the Triple-A first round:
Mars defeated Central Valley 3-2. The Fighting Planets meet Ambridge Thursday.
In Single-A:
Bentworth eliminated Cardinal Wuerl North Catholic 1-0.
In Double-A: Freeport had an opening round “bye” and will face Yough Thursday. Yough shut-out Quaker Valley 2-0 Monday.
After the opening round of the state Golf championships in York:
Pine-Richland’s Lauren Freyvogel is tied for second place, three strokes off the lead in Triple-A. Madie Smithco of C.W. North Catholic is tied for fourth in 2A.
Hockey:
Freeport-8 Norwin-2.
Pine-Richland-2 Seneca Valley-1.
