At the Tri-State Coaches Association Cross Country Championships Thursday at California University of Pa:
Noah Beveridge of Butler led all runners to the finish line. The Butler Boys finished third overall. North Allegheny was first, followed by Seneca Valley.
The North Allegheny Girls also won, with Seneca Valley runner-up. The Butler Girls were fourth. Maggie Welty of Butler finished third overall. Megan Aaron of Seneca Valley was fourth.
The District-9 Soccer playoff brackets were released Thursday.
The Karns City boys are the top seed in Double-A and have a first round “bye”. They await the winner of the St. Mary’s vs. Punxsutawney game that will be played Monday.
The Karns City girls are also the top seed in Double-A will meet Clearfield in the Double-A final.
Girls Volleyball:
Butler finished their season with a 3-1 victory over Franklin Regional. Julia Gibson had 11 kills and two blocks for the Golden Tornado. Caitlyn Martin had three aces, 11 kills and nine digs. Erin Fullerton had nine kills, two blocks and eight digs. After going winless (0-14) last year, Butler completes a 6-8 season.
Knoch-3 Shaler-2.
Hampton-3 Mars-0.
