Approval for ride-sharing services such as Uber and Lyft to operate permanently statewide is nearing final approval by Pennsylvania lawmakers.
The House unanimously voted Wednesday to send legislation back to the Senate, which approved an earlier version last year.
It’s been a bumpy ride for Uber and Lyft in Pennsylvania. When the two companies began operating in the commonwealth in 2014, they lacked permission from the state’s Public Utility Commission.
Both companies are currently operating under temporary, two-year approval granted by the PUC in early 2015.
