It appears negotiations are continuing today between faculty and state system representatives for Pennsylvania’s 14 colleges and universities but if a deal isn’t reached by tomorrow, the faculty will strike.
Both the Pennsylvania State System of Higher Education (known as PASSHE) and the Association of Pennsylvania State College and University Faculties (known as APSCUF) agreed to not comment or discuss any details regarding this latest round of talks until they’re over.
The APSCUF chapter at Slippery Rock University did plan a rally on campus for this afternoon.
Faculty members will go on strike at 5 a.m. Wednesday if the State System has not bargained a contract.
The faculty contract expired June 30, 2015 and negotiations have been ongoing since late 2014.
APSCUF represents about 5,500 faculty and coaches at the 14 State System universities:
Bloomsburg, California, Cheyney, Clarion, East Stroudsburg, Edinboro, Indiana, Kutztown, Lock Haven, Mansfield, Millersville, Shippensburg, Slippery Rock, and West Chester Universities of Pennsylvania.
