The Butler Area School Board has contracted with an independent consultant to provide grant writing services for the district.
By a vote of 8-1, the district approved a one-year contract Monday with Ashley Coudriet for a sum not to exceed $50,000 annually. That amount is a part of the current year budget as well as part of what is being planned for next year.
Coudriet will report to Superintendent Dr. Dale Lumley and begin as soon as possible. There is no requirement of a certain amount of money she must bring in but the board has created a list of functions for the job.
A total of 20 candidates applied for the grant writer position and two were interviewed by administrators and two board members. Coudriet has experience in the education field as a teacher and director of education as well as in the independent and self-motivated area of grant writing.
