There will be two special fundraising efforts for the Evans City EDCO pool this weekend at the ‘Living Dead Weekend’ festival.
Gary Streiner, creator of the festival who also worked on the film, told our radio station that there was such great support from the community and EDCO park with the festival that he feels it’s time to give back. The decision was to undergo efforts to raise money for the pool at EDCO.
One of the efforts will be a silent auction. That will take place over two days and winners will be announced on Saturday.
The second idea was brought to the event by Kevin Kriess, owner of The Night of the Living Dead museum and co-organizer of the festival. This is a ‘zombie scarecrow’ field. Anyone, for $5, is invited to put their artistic touch on a scarecrow; of which Kriess said they could be made into zombies if you’d like to go along with the festival theme. Kriess says this is a family event so any decoration will be great and at the end of the festival, the field of ‘zombie scarecrows’ will be an ongoing art project that the town could leave up for the month to give ambiance to the EDCO park for Halloween.
The event will be held Friday through Sunday (October 14, 15, 16).
