The Mars hockey team defeated Chartiers Valley 3-2 and will play for the Class 1A Penguins Cup championship next week. The Planets will meet Avonworth Monday night at the UPMC Lemieux Sports Complex in Cranberry Township. Face-off is 8:45pm. (That game will be preceded by the Class 3A Penguins Cup championship game between Seneca Valley and South Fayette at 6:15pm.)
Avonworth eliminated Moon 6-2 last night in the other Class 1A semifinal.
