The Colorado Avalanche defeated the Pittsburgh Penguins 4-1 last night in Denver. Colorado scored the game-winning goal on a power play with just over four minutes remaining in the game, then scored two empty-net goals in the final 90 seconds. Rickard Rakell scored the Penguins only goal. It was his 29th of the season. Alex Nedeljkovic stopped 21 of 23 shots in net for the Penguins, who have lost three straight, and eight of their last 10 games.
The Pens visit the Vegas Golden Knights Friday, then visit Minnesota Sunday afternoon.
The NHL trade deadline is Friday at 3pm.
The Pens are now 24-30-10 overall this season. They have 18 games remaining in their season. The Buffalo Sabres are now four points away from the Penguins for the worst record in the Eastern Conference of the NHL. The Sabres have 22 games remaining.
