On Friday in high school basketball:
–The Knoch boys avenged an early season loss to Deer Lakes with a 48-45 victory. The win ties the Knights with North Catholic for first place in Class 4A Section 4, with the two teams facing off Tuesday. Both Knoch and the Trojans are 14-5 overall and 9-1 in section play this season.
–The Butler boys defeated Seneca Valley 72-57 Friday night with four Golden Tornado players reaching double digit scoring. The win locked up a playoff spot for Butler.
–The Seneca Valley girls remained unbeaten in section play by holding off Butler 57-53. During the game, Butler’s Amelia McMichael passed the 1,000 career point mark. She led all scorers in the game with 22 points. The Raiders are now 13-5 overall this season and a perfect 8-0 in Class 6A Section 1. Butler dropped to 9-9 overall and 4-4 in the section.
