Butler County will be partnering with Armstrong in an effort to receive grant funding to help expand broadband.
The proposed plan by Armstrong would be a $15 to $18 million investment in expanding broadband in the county.
It primarily targets areas in the eastern portions of the county that lack reliable internet.
While Armstrong’s plan said they were targeting 95 percent of eligible areas in the county, commissioners say they would like the number on the proposal to be 100 percent.
The money is a part of the Broadband Equity Access and Deployment federal grant, which saw Pennsylvania awarded over $1 billion to distribute to counties to improve broadband.
Armstrong previously partnered with the county to receive state broadband funding that is currently being installed to homes in the Moniteau and Slippery Rock School Districts.
The application process is due in January.
