The Mars Area School District is continuing to review options for their Elementary School project.
District officials say the outdoor spaces surrounding the nearly $24 million expansion provide potential for two separate playground areas.
Both spaces would have a combination of hard surfaces and grass including a play structure, patio with seating, and possibly outdoor learning spaces. The access road connecting the elementary school to the administration office parking lot is expected to be expanded to three lanes to accommodate parent pick up and event parking.
The Mars School Board is expected to finalize the design plans in the near future and hopes to begin construction in May.
