The New York Mets and Atlanta Braves split their regular season make-up doubleheader Monday, and both teams earned a National League Wild Card spot over the Arizona Diamondbacks. The Mets won game one 8-7. The Braves won the night-cap 3-0.
The Wild Card games begin this afternoon. Houston will host Detroit at 2:30pm on ABC. Baltimore will host Kansas City at 4pm on ESPN2. The Mets visit Milwaukee at 5:30pm on ESPN. The final game of the night will be San Diego hosting Atlanta at 8:30pm on ESPN. These are best-of-three game series.
NFL Monday Night Football last night:
–Detroit defeated Seattle 42-29. Lions quarterback Jared Goff set an NFL record with a perfect night passing the ball. He was 18-for-18 for 292 yards and two touchdowns.
–Tennessee defeated Miami 31-12.
The Steelers host the Dallas Cowboys for the Sunday Night Football game this weekend. The Steelers are early 1-1/2 point favorites. The black and gold have lost another offensive lineman for the season, after right guard James Daniels suffered a torn Achilles in Sunday’s loss to Indianapolis. Daniels has only missed two games since 2021. He is now the third O-lineman to have his season end.
Dallas will be without star defender Micah Parsons who suffered an injury last week. He has never missed an NFL game since being drafted by the Cowboys.
