The Pittsburgh Penguins won their first pre-season game with a 5-2 victory over Ottawa in Canada. Sidney Crosby and Evgeni Malkin scored all of the Penguins goals, with Malkin netting a hat trick.
The Penguins game with Detroit was postponed Saturday after the Pens charter flight developed mechanical problems. They will make that game up tonight. The Red Wings will play split-squad games, with a previously-scheduled game in Buffalo.
