The Pittsburgh Penguins and captain Sidney Crosby have agreed to a two-year contract extension. The deal will continue to average $8.7 million, the same amount Crosby was paid under his soon-to-be-expiring 12-year contract. The new extension will run through the 2026-27 season. The deal was announced Monday as Crosby and members of the Penguins were delivering season tickets to fans. Crosby visited a family in Mars.
Crosby’s annual salary remains second on the Penguins roster, behind only 2023 trade acquisition Erik Karlsson. The 37-year old hit 40 goals for the first time in seven years last season, putting up 42 goals and a team-best 94 points in 82 games.
The Penguins begin training camp Wednesday in Cranberry Township.
