A group of lawmakers from Pennsylvania continues to press for the release of a Butler native from a Russian prison.
This is the third anniversary of the imprisonment of Marc Fogel who has been serving a 14 year sentence in a hard labor camp after he was found carrying a half-ounce of medicinal marijuana for a back injury.
Recently, Senator Bob Casey was joined by colleagues of both parties in the House including Representative Mike Kelly and Senate including Senator John Fetterman, in sending a letter to Secretary of State Anthony Blinken.
The letter again encourages the State Department to designate Fogel as “wrongfully detained.” This comes after a prisoner exchange between the United States and Russia earlier this month that did not include Fogel.
