The Mars Area School District is nearly ready to unveil their first ever mascot.
After remarks from a representative of the Mars Cheer Boosters at their Tuesday night meeting, board members heard that the mascot will be received today and publicly revealed this weekend.
Gates open at the “Friday Night Lineup” event at the Mars Athletic Complex Sunday at 6 p.m. This free event open to the Mars community will include food trucks and refreshments as well as performances by different student groups. Attendees are asked to bring non-perishable food items for donation to those in need.
The mascot’s name has not yet been determined but the community will be involved in the decision. Also, the booster representative did not share the cost of the mascot but did say that the effort was supported by community donations.
