Local Alzheimer patients will now have access to a new way of care in Butler.
Independence Health System announced they are rolling out a new program that “rapidly moves patients from clinical assessment to infusion” when Alzheimer is detected.
The infusions are two recently FDA-approved drugs including Leqembi and Kisunla. Both infusions attack the plaque that is believed to be responsible for a toxic buildup causing damage to brain cells.
So far, more than 30 patients have either begun the immunotherapy infusions or are about to begin. Independence is offering the therapy at both their Butler and Greensburg locations.
Those interested in learning more about the infusions should contact Butler Memorial Hospital directly. 724-431-1613 option 2.
