The City of Butler could see the addition of a self-storage facility if City Council approves a change to zoning later this month.
A public hearing was held at Thursday’s Council meeting regarding the rezoning of three parcels of land on Liberty Street near West Wayne.
Property owner John Mossman is requesting that the zoning be changed from Residential 2 to M-1 light industrial district in order to accommodate local demand for a self-storage facility.
A couple of neighboring residents expressed concern about parking but Mossman assured them there would be no impact. He went on to say that this is not a spot zoning situation and the facility will bring revenue to the city. He also anticipates lights on motion detectors and no fence necessary since all storage will be inside.
A vote on the adoption of the ordinance to change the zoning for those properties is anticipated at the next meeting of Council on August 22nd.
