The Pittsburgh area continues to receive poor grades on its overall air quality according to a new report.
The American Lung Association released its State of the Air Report yesterday, and the Pittsburgh metro region is again among the worst regionally as well as nationally.
While the area received poor grades in areas like year-round particle pollution, Pittsburgh did improve its ranking in daily particle pollution thanks to wildfires negatively impacting air quality in western regions.
The Environmental Protection Agency recently finalized new air pollution rules designed to clean up particle pollution and address climate change. The Lung Association would like to see the EPA set stronger national limits on ozone pollution.
