Christmas is coming early to the Butler Senior High School as the curtain rises on their spring musical.
“Elf: The Musical” is set for this Friday and Saturday at the Senior High School auditorium.
The show is a take on the 2003 Christmas film starring Will Ferrell.
Sophomore Zach Marra is playing Ferrell’s character, Buddy the Elf.
“He’s the most excited person ever because he grew up in the North Pole with a bunch of elves. He’s excited all the time,” Marra said.
Both shows are set for 7:30 p.m. each night. Tickets can be purchased in advance at May’s Music Shoppe or at the door the night of the show.
Also happening this weekend is Moniteau’s performance of Guys and Dolls is also set to take place this weekend.
Shows are scheduled for Friday at 7 p.m. as well as Saturday at 2 and 7 p.m. at the Moniteau High School Auditorium.
Over 100 Moniteau students will take the audience back to Depression-era Times Square for a tale of high-stakes gambling and love.
Junior Andrew DeMatteis plays high-roller Sky Masterson:
“Being from a rural area, this takes us out to the streets of New York. I think that Broadway-setting with skyscrapers is just really cool and a breath of fresh air in our community,” DeMatteis said.
Tickets are $10 and can be purchased at the door or by emailing [email protected].
