The Pittsburgh Steelers visit the Buffalo Bills in the Wild Card round of the NFL playoffs this Sunday and will continue with Mason Rudolph as their starting quarterback for the game, but head coach Mike Tomlin said the team will be without linebacker TJ Watt for the game. Watt suffered an injured knee in Steelers season-ending victory in Baltimore.
The Steelers are 1-10 all-time when Watt misses a game.
Since becoming the starter, Rudolph has competed nearly 75% of his passes for 716 yards and three touchdowns with a passer rating of 120.39. He has not thrown an interception. It is the first time since Week 9 of the 2014 season a Steelers quarterback has had three consecutive games with at least a 112 rating.
Coach Tomlin also said defensive back Minkah Fitzpatrick has a chance to return from injury for the game.
The Steelers are seeking their first playoff victory in seven years. The Bills, who have won five games in a row, are 9-1/2 point favorites.
Since the NFL expanded to seven teams in the post-season, none of the #7 seeds have won.
