The Seneca Valley School District is looking to effectively manage how much students use their phone during the school day.
Superintendent Dr. Tracy Vitale says that cell phones can be very distracting for students.
“We sent our parents a letter back in July that we are recognizing the difficulties that social media and cell phones are presenting when it comes to disrupting our classrooms and keeping our children’s attention,” Vitale said. “Also the mental health toll that it’s taking on our youngsters.”
She also adds that the solution isn’t as simple as banning cell phones.
“It’s an opportunity to teach responsible digital citizenship because cell phones aren’t going away,” Vitale said.
Vitale says the district is asking parents to help students in using their phones responsibly in and out of school.
