A bipartisan bill in the state senate looks to give a stipend to those pursuing a teaching career.
In an effort to help address the teaching shortage, the bill would provide a $10,000 stipend to college students who are student teaching.
The program would be administered by the Pennsylvania Higher Education Assistance Agency. Lawmakers say many students have to quit their job in order to complete student teaching.
The bill now moves to the Senate Education Committee.
