The City’s Redevelopment Authority is moving forward with a contractor to begin updates to local parks.
The authority approved a bid by W.K. Thomas for just over $1 million.
The plan includes installing new playsets at Butler Memorial Park and Rotary Park on the Island. There will also be sidewalk updates to Christie Avenue Park.
The projects are expected to start next spring and with officials expecting them to be completed by the end of 2024.
The funding for the project came through Community Development Block Grants, which were awarded in 2022.
