The Knoch School Board is not planning for a tax increase for the expected budget for the 2023-24 school year.
During the Wednesday night school board meeting, board members approved a preliminary general fund budget of nearly $38.5 million which is an increase of about $500,000 compared to the current year.
The tax rate will hold constant at this year’s rate of 94.275 mils. The district plans to move some current staff into new roles in order to accommodate the change to all day kindergarten.
Although the cost of utilities continues to increase, district administrators believe the budget can be balanced without the need for changes in student programming.
The proposed budget will now be posted for public review on the district’s website for 30 days. Residents are encouraged to provide feedback before a final vote is taken on next year’s budget in June.
