Each year, the federal budget sets aside money for Community Project Funding and Congressman Mike Kelly is releasing the projects he is looking to get funding for.
Five different groups submitted their requests for funding.
- Butler Twp. Volunteer Fire Department is looking for $1.25 million to house their department and equipment in the same facility.
- Connoquenessing Volunteer Fire Department is seeking $2 million that would go toward the construction of a new station house. Their current location was built in the 1900s.
- Harrisville Volunteer Fire Company requested $500,000 for a new apparatus.
- Cranberry Township is asking for $3.2 million to go toward replacing 7,000 feet of a waterline along Route 19.
- PennDOT is seeking $4.5 million to go toward preserving the Shearer Bridge at the intersection of Route 422 and Route 68 in Butler.
“One of the biggest needs we have seen across Western Pennsylvania is more funding for our local volunteer fire departments. We are continuing to support true, physical infrastructure that makes our communities stronger and more vibrant places to live,” Kelly said.
