The New Jersey Devils defeated the Pittsburgh Penguins 5-1 last night. Bryan Rust scored his 20th goal of the season in the third period after the Penguins had fallen behind 4-0. They went 0-for-4 on the power play. Tristan Jarry stopped 32 of 37 shots on goal.
The loss dropped the Pens one point behind both Florida and the New York Islanders for the final Eastern Conference Wild Card spot. All three teams have four games remaining in their regular season. Florida defeated Buffalo 2-1 last night for their fourth victory in a row. The Islanders did not play.
The Pens host Minnesota tomorrow night.
