The Knoch School Board has committed not to increase their tax millage rate for next year above the index set by the state.
The board made the decision by a unanimous vote Wednesday night, which locks them in to a maximum millage increase of less than 4.1% as determined by the PA Department of Education.
This percentage works out to just over 3.86 mils when Knoch administrators plan the budget for the 2023-2024 school year.
This index figure is set by the state annually. It is not possible to raise taxes over that rate unless permission is granted by voters for specific exceptional circumstances.
