Pennsylvania State Police are asking residents to report suspicious activity that could have anything to do with creepy clown-related social media posts.
Although sightings of clowns and incidents of attempted luring have been reported, no sightings have been validated and there are no known threats to schools in the state.
There is little evidence of these creepy clown sightings but the reach of social media has led to clown panic around the country. Due to media coverage about this situation, several people have been arrested for making false reports or chasing people while costumed.
A similar clown scare occurred in the 1980s but most sightings were only witnessed by young children. Anyone who would like to report suspicious activity should call 888-292-1919 or send an email to [email protected].
