Many local families will be able to enjoy holiday meals thanks to an ongoing initiative at Butler County Community College.
In September, efforts by the BC3 Pioneer Pantry and the BC3 Education Foundation were able to raise over $5,000 which will result in about 40 meals distributed to those in need later this week.
The distribution will include a turkey along with mostly fresh food as well as potato mashers, can openers, and a $10 gift card. Assisting with this effort is the Butler Rotary Foundation and NexTier Bank.
BC3’s Pioneer Pantry was created in 2019 to assist students and others, and followed a survey in which 38 percent of the 304 BC3 students who responded indicated having low or very low food security.
