A new bill that advocates say will cut red tape for seniors enrolled in Medicare is a step closer to becoming law.
Republican Mike Kelly of Butler helped lead the effort to create the legislation to lessen the burden on providers getting prior authorization for certain medical procedures and tests.
The bill is known as the Improving Seniors’ Timely Access to Care Act which moves prior authorization to an electronic format as phone calls and faxes.
The bill passed unanimously in the U.S. House.
