
A Petrolia man was killed in neighboring Mercer County following a crash early Monday morning.
According to State Police, 28-year-old Matthew Bell was driving north on Slippery Rock Road in Liberty Township just before 2 a.m. when he veered off the left side of the road and hit a mailbox.
The vehicle then hit a ditch, spun around, and hit a tree. Bell and his passenger, 22-year-old Trenton Snow of Grove City were ejected from the vehicle. Neither man was wearing a seat belt. Both men were taken to Grove City Medical Center for treatment of serious injury.
Bell later died as a result of his injury. Snow’s condition is unknown at this time.
