The Redevelopment Authority of the City of Butler is continuing the process of determining how state funding will be used to benefit local residents.
The Authority recently held a public hearing to obtain feedback from citizens regarding the 2022 Community Development Block Grant.
The PA Department of Community and Economic Development has specified that at least 70% of funds must be used to benefit residents of low to moderate incomes through projects like street improvement and housing rehabilitation. New this year, the program permits funds to be used for graffiti removal from public property.
Last year the City received just over $330,000 but no determination has yet been made regarding the amount available this year. This application is due in October but another public hearing will be held before then for more specific details followed by final approval from Butler City Council.
