Snow came down quickly and in fairly large flakes this morning in Butler.
After a brief flurry during the early morning hours, Butler saw the snow pick up around mid-morning.
The wintry weather though led to a couple of minor accidents during the morning commute. A two vehicle accident happened on Herman Road just after 8 a.m. A seven-year-old toddler had to be evaluated at the scene, but no one was taken to the hospital. Meanwhile, icy roads led to a crash on Hendricks Road in Center Township. That happened around 9:45 a.m. near the intersection with Evans Road. Crews on the scene say a vehicle ended up in a ditch.
Restrictions were also put in place on I-80 in Clarion County. Speed limits were reduced to 45 miles per hour and commercial vehicles are restricted to the right lane.
The National Weather Service is predicting less than a total inch of accumulation throughout the day, with the expectation that the snow will switch over the rain this afternoon.
Today’s high is expected to be around 42 degrees, with an overnight low of 26.
Another round of wintry weather could hit the area this weekend, although meteorologists aren’t exactly sure of the storm’s trajectory at this point.
