The Redevelopment Authority of the City of Butler is applying for a large state grant in order to help the city of Butler with equipment.
The Authority approved an application for a $710,000 Statewide Local Share Assessment grant through the Pennsylvania Department of Community and Economic Development Commonwealth Financing Authority.
If received, this grant would fund the purchase of a new fire engine pumper truck for the City Fire Department.
This is a new program that does not require a local match but a total of $100 million in funding is expected to be available with the only cost being a $100 application processing fee. The awards are expected to be announced sometime in November.
