A new bill aims to help young people impacted by opioid abuse.
The law would create a task force to assist infants and children who are impacted by their parent’s drug abuse.
State Representative Clint Owlett is a sponsor of the bill.
“This task force is going to bring some recommendations to the House as to exactly what we need to do here in the Commonwealth to prevent and create some permanency to help and support both mom and baby when it comes to drug addicted babies,” Owlett said.
According to the Department of Health, there were 2,100 infants born with neonatal abstinence syndrome in Pennsylvania from drug exposure before birth.
