A new bill hopes to add another layer of protection for seniors to avoid falling victim to scams.
The law would require the Attorney General to notify the Department of Aging about new scams targeting seniors.
State Representative Meghan Schroeder (R-Bucks) says this is another tool to help seniors in PA.
“Our older adult population will always be a target of these bad actors and we need to do all that we can to protect them against financial schemes,” Schroeder said. “The goal here is to get information into our communities quicker to have less victims being scammed.”
A report a couple of years ago found that elderly Pennsylvanians lost $1.2 billion to scams in a year.
